I know, I know. This is another Createblog template. I know better than using a template, but it is pretty though. I just finished my IB rough draft. I can really go for a Dream Latte from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf right now, too bad I don't live in SF. Time for some self-discovery. I also like pretty dresses and procrastination. I promise to update this blog more often.

Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas!
Sunday, November 1, 2009 12:33 AM
Oh Em Gee, it's that time of the year again, where Oct, Nov and Dec bring us joy of the holidays.

So yesterday (I guess), was Halloween. It didn't feel like a Halloween to me, but oh well. Kody's house was pretty fun, even though we visited his interesting neighbors! It was awkward asking for donations for UNICEF, but I'm not even sure how much we got. We went with Livi, Tony, and Miguel (who ran interestingly towards us with his hands in his pocket).

Then, I saw COPELAND @ Raley's! That was the best experience ever! And, I popped out of the car so he was a bit startled too, which was probably a first for him! Then we talked, I saw Gretel and he left, in his big van.

I decided home-made pizzas are the best, and they're easy to make! I love mozzarella cheez, minus the heart burn. No more spinach dip for me! I had to have 4 tums, urgh.

So Thanksgiving, I decided we're going to make a pumpkin pie for the first time ever! I think it'll be pretty cool, since we have never made anything ourselves. Our recipe for custard pie turned out successful, so we'll trust internet recipes for pumpkin pies as well.

It's scary to think about what's happening outside right now. Ah!

Anyway, the Thanksgiving holidays brought me to my MIT interview in Auburn and also a potential trip to the Nordstrom Rack. I don't know what to do for the MIT interview, but I am prepared, especially in my f21 white button up shirt and f21 short skirt that only cost me 7.50. It's getting ridiculous how much I shop from f21, and it's so hard to not get anything because everything they have is so so cute! I always have to tell myself no, do not buy anything distinctive that people can immediately spot. Ah, and my mom, who wanted to look at the sales, totally missed this 600 sq ft slot for sale items -_-

Another siren...

I'm only getting paid 30 dollars this month, so I really need to be wise about spending my money. Btw, Victoria's Secret has sooo many panties offers! I'm totally set! And, they were really nice about me trying on their bras.

Black Friday is happening soon, I'm totally paying attention to the Sunday paper so I know what I want. I want to get good deals for dorm crap next year! The first one is a door hanger, my clothes are all over the floor right now and it bugs me! I'm excited, especially for wal-mart and target.

Christmas, I still need to do some shopping for the people on my list, which I'll compose now. I still need to go to Michael's to get some stuff for my J-Crew inspired necklaces. I'm so excited for Christmas, I'm not sure what I'll get myself yet, but I have a whole list set for my dad to get me. I think he'll not be happy with it, but I don't get things very often! Especially Chinese things.

Ah, and then SAT next weekend, so is twirps. I find out my score the Tuesday after for the ACT. Wish me luck!

I know I should be sleeping

but It's such a chilly night out. I feel like staying up like an owl will only earn me some accomplishments. Watch out panda here I come, eyes.

Well, so today has been quite an adventure. Mainly the moral of the story here is that staying optimistic does really change the way you perceive things. now let's see if i can do that for my upcoming WWI and ToK paper. While we're at it, let's hope that i also did well on my ACT (32+ on my reading please!).

For some reason, i thought tomorrow would be a rally day, but it's not... it's a stay after and work your soul for yearbook day. Then I'm going home to feed myself some more world war one stuff. I can't wait.

So, today was also the first day I got roses. Well, wait, I think I got some before for being the accompaniment for angela, she's such a good singer, and it was a pleasure working with her. anyway, so a dozen roses is a big responsibility. they're like princesses you can't touch, except i chopped off their stems and probably made them cry. And i decided im opposed to flowers, except for fake ones of course, because they're lives. my dad brought that to my attention today and somehow that made a lot of sense.

then of course i would kill them because everything i touch turns into stone, im like midas and medusa: everything i touch turn into stone. but i hope it's sedimentary so there might be fossils. lol, see, optimism working again.

so, i tried some vegan cupcakes today and they are delicious. i cant wait to become a vegan when im older, but definitely no soy. soy is disgusting and im glad im only soy through some food. omg, penang curry cheers me up too, just that buttery creamy coconut milk is just making me hungry, 1 in the morning! it was the best birthday meal ever.

so today, i got a card from my mom, that i picked out lol. it was actually pretty fun, and of course it was very cute. linda commented that she likes it when i get along with my mom lol, i think i do too, but thats not going to happen. i think its partly both of our fault anyway, but, hopefully, when i move out, i'll miss her even more than i think i will and we'll become bff again.

its 12:56, 56 minutes after the first day of being 17. i really dont like being 17, things just change, they're no longer what they are anymore. so i decided im getting a copy of le petit prince for me this christmas. why does it have to be a hat? why cant it be an elephant inside a snake? adults are funny, they always do funny things to stop what you want to do. 17 is close to adulthood, right?

"Hellllooooooo!"

I just finished my IB rough draft paper on physics and in a way, I'm happy, because now I get to commence my college applications and test prep. Anyway, so, how about those college applications? I really wonder if admission officers look at all web pages with my screen name. I really hope not :p

Tonight, we're having pasta with pesto sauce! And this time, we have REAL pine nuts and Parmesan cheeeeeeeez. I'm so excited, we can finally be more Italian tonight because we are not going to use canned sauce!

So, yesterday, I played with these little kids at the library because there was a festival there. It was actually a lot less fun than the one last year. I remember Kody and I tried to land some food with the cake walk but we ended not getting anything. My mom dragged me out of the line and told me I was wasting my time - which I was. Goodbye cake!

So, Tony and I did the scavenger hunt booth yesterday, and I don't know if it's just me, but it really didn't look fun. Ok, I know it was for kids 2-12, but if I were 10 I wouldn't even play. And the prizes...looked really old and used.

This kid approached me, picked his nose, and licked his finger (the one that entered his nose)! No wonder I'm sick and coughing right now.. and because I took a prize (it was a chocolate, chill) and ate it without washing my hands (OCD)! I regret it so much, but at least it was dark chocolate. The lady was really nice about giving away prizes, I ended up with a lot of rejects.

In the meantime, Kody and Livi did the fishing booth. Something about those kids tells me that people like free things, especially when you only have to stand in line. I got hit in the head by the little clip on the string, it hurt, and the kid laughed at me. I got a baby toy when I fished.

So, that was a nice contrast to my sojourn to hell that morning (the yearbook room, filled with Saturday School kids). Maybe I got sick there, because it was a perfect breeding ground for H1N1. I need to get vaccinated. At least I got a cup of tea from the T-Bar to compensate the loss of my youth.

While I'm living this week, I'm waiting for my Kimchi Blue Floral Denim Jacket in Washed Ditsy from Urban Outfitters. Again, it was on sale for $20 (orig. $68)! This is absolutely perfect for fall. I also got a cardigan from F21 for $10.80, and I think both will go very well with dresses and dressy tops. It's about time I leave my sweatshirts.

Today is a Wednesday

today...

I finally used my bike for something. I biked downtown to the university and did my research. Lately, I've been sitting and doing absolutely nothing at my research. I don't know why I'm there, because I don't even know Python.. I meant to learn it awhile ago, I swear. Then, the prof asked me to find an equation with with the axises set to G and R; I didn't know that, I thought it was set to T and R instead... I looked like an idiot. He ended up solving it instead.

Whatever. I proceeded to go to the post instead. I found out I put too many stamps on Harvard's- financial-aid-request-info postcard, and the lady said I don't get a refund. Oh, and I also told her to mail my package first class. Two stories precede and succeed this story, I'll get to it now. Yeah, we also spent a fortune at the post office, 66 dollars on stamps and shit, get that.

Ok so the package is filled with shirts from Threadless, you know, the store. Well, taking advantage of the 5 dollar sale, my mom and I just raped the store (sorta). She kept on saying how she needed extra large shirts so they don't cling onto her. Well she got them - in women's - and bitched about how they were too tight. Four shirts I had to mail back and change for men's small and medium.

You notice I'm saying "you know", and "and all" a lot more than usual. Thanks, J.D. Salinger, for showing me great literature can be written with spoken Enligsh. Seriously though, The Catcher in the Rye, good stuff.

Miguel and I went on an exhausting ride to the airport, I was a bit skeptical at first, but I went along anyway. Of course, we treated ourselves with Big Al's, where I paid the majority of the food. Miguel said he would pay me back, but I know he wont, since his mom forgot to pay the house phone - again, and he'll probably acquire that trait. They say children soak up knowledge like sponges. Really, Big Al's, it needs to hire some attractive people - the employees are like living examples of the worst outcomes of fastfood. One of them told me the cherry & black berry shake was amazing (and it was, just a bit too sweet), but I was convinced that all flavors were made to her liking. Then Miguel and I commented on that dried up prune who served us inside.

I hate riding on a no-gear cruiser with wind blowing against me. It sucks, and it happened.

I got home and just turned on my computer and searched for Shin Chan. I hope they make new ones/translate them soon; I've seen most of them already. It's so handy when your language closely resembles the language of one of the most advanced nation in the world. I call this a cultural exchange, they can suck it if they don't like this name.

Then my mom came home and yelled at me because the lady at the post office didn't hear the first class order; she charged us priority. She then went on about how I never check the receipts and that's why I got gypped 3 dollars at Chico Natural Foods. Ok - it's a co-op store, I don't believe they swallow those 3 dollars greedily. Besides, 3 dollars get you absolutely nothing of value in that store, ok, exaggeration, but a good store though, I like it.

So I just shrugged it off and told her that it's not my fault! Everything is my fault, I swear. But it's not! Ok, I don't have evidence but neither does she. I'm going to drop it before it gets uglier. So I just said "well now, they'll mail your package faster and you'll get your desired sizes...". Men's small and medium? She wanted to go for the larges.

Then I slept because I was tired, my legs were on fire, but I'm happy we'll be doing this regularly.

I woke up and watched Dr. Phil, whil eating rosemary bread from Tin Roof. It's 4 dollars now and I consider making it myself next time. I'm a decent baker, although the stupid recipe Michaela gave me yielded a turd looking thing. I then read Crime and Punishment but was interrupted by a phone call from John.

I had a yearning to online browse again. My first destination was Zappos Zeta, since they upgraded my account to VIP. It's not that big of a deal, really, but yeah, the overnight shipping rocks. I played the piano, but did nothing too productive. Then I made Ahi tuna, and now I'm worried about my mercury intake. I'm off those lean proteins for a month or so, maybe more. Good-bye yellowfins, swim to your havens!

So now I'm sitting and writing my blogger. I did only two things today out of my planned schedule. This is so lame. Oh, just awhile ago, my mom yelled at me and said she could fix my glasses with strings. Okay... no, not even with magic. Then she said that checking the prices of the forever stamps is more important and decided to ignore my question (of how to fix my glasses with only strings), I confronted her and she started yelling gibberish. Oh, so typical.

Tomorrow I get Chada Thai. I also get to go to an actual functioning optometrist (omgomg).

My concluding thought for today: First generation college students have it easy.
